The aim of each team is to buy a vehicle in good conditions, drive it to Mongolia and donate it to Charity. The charity Go Help we'll receive the vehicle and take care of converting them to something useful, such as an ambulance or a school bus. Go Help started organising the "Mongolia Charity Rally" in 2004. It's a non-competitive charity rally that takes places every summer. The destination is Ulan-Bator, in Mongolia, and every team is free to choose what vehicle to buy and what route to take.
Each team has to buy and tune up a vehicle (either a car or a van) and drive it to Mongolia. Once there, all vehicles will be donated to Go Help, which in turn will take care of converting them to something useful (ambulances, school buses, etc...) or alternatively put them up for auction.
Go Help does not provide any kind of help (pun intended) during the rally. At the same time, the recommend to avoid the use of Sat Navs because of the very poor mapping of most roads in central Asia. Therefore, every team will have to rely exclusively on its own resources and hopefully on some help from the locals.
The Mongolia Charity Rally is organised by GoHelp, a UK registered charity. "Go Help is a UK registered charity that is committed to working with local communities in Central Asia to improve their access to education and healthcare services."
Mostly for fun and for charity. Our aim is to raise at least 1000GBP for Go Help. On top of that, we will donate the vehicle. If you want to support or sponsor us you can find more info in the "Support us" page.
